Elizabeth D. Mitchell

Attorney

Beth Mitchell is a partner in the law firm of AMBLER | KEENAN | MITCHELL | JOHNSON. Beth devotes her practice to estate planning, elder law, special needs planning, and probate and trust administration. She is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Denver Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association, where she is a member of the Trust and Estates Section and the Elder Law Section.

Beth sincerely enjoys working with families to make sure that estate matters are handled correctly and efficiently. She is a frequent speaker for professionals and the public on educational topics involving estate planning, probate, and trust administration.

Beth received her B.A. in English and Speech Communications from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was awarded her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law, where she was an editor for the Preventive Law Reporter and an active member of the University of Denver Student Law Office’s Battered Women’s Clemency Project.

Beth is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the 10th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining AMBLER | KEENAN | MITCHELL | JOHNSON, Beth’s diverse background included working for the Colorado Bar Association, with the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence as an AmeriCorps member and interning with South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson on Capitol Hill. She is a South Dakota native who loves to travel and has enjoyed living in Iowa, New York, Washington D.C., and Colorado.

Erica L. Johnson

Attorney

Erica Johnson is a Partner in the law firm of Ambler | Keenan | Mitchell | Johnson. She is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

Erica received her B.S. in Broadcasting Management from Northern Arizona University in 1989.  She was awarded her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law.  Erica’s practice emphasizes estate planning, probate, trust administration, second and step parent adoption.  She is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys.  She served on the Denver Mayor’s GLBT Commission from 2008 – 2014, having served as Chair of the organization 2011-2012.  Her other professional associations include membership in the Denver Bar Association, Trusts and Estates section of the Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, Colorado Lesbian and Gay Bar Association, Denver Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of estate planning for unmarried couples.

Erica was awarded the Professional Woman of the Year award from the Denver Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in 2006 and a Philanthropic Leadership award from the Denver Foundation in 2012.

She is a proud Colorado native, born and raised in Littleton, Colorado. She and her wife live in south Denver with their Goldendoodle Hazel.  She has made it approximately 4 miles down Broadway from where she grew up, showing off her adventurous personality.

Ilya Lyubimskiy

Attorney

Ilya enjoys working with families on estate planning matters and takes pride in providing clients with quality and reliable estate planning services. He enjoys educating the public and professionals on various legal topics.

Ilya received his B.S. in Accounting from Metropolitan State University of Denver before he was admitted to law school. He obtained a J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law, where he was an editor for the Criminal Law Review. He was also awarded a Certificate in Legal Research from the University of Denver, Westminster Law Library.

Ilya is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Colorado. He is an active member of the Colorado Bar Trust and Estates Section.

Ilya comes to us with a diverse background. He served as a Deputy District Attorney in the 17th Judicial District for nearly six years fighting for victims of crime in court. As part of the Economic Crime Unit, he advocated for the rights of elderly and at-risk individuals. Before that, he has clerked for various judges in Colorado helping with civil, domestic, and criminal matters. He is a first generation Russian-American who is fluent in Russian considers himself a Colorado native. He loves spending time with his wife and two dogs. He is a Colorado sports fan, avid skier and hiker.

Karlene

Administrative Assistant

Karlene is our Administrative Assistant. She will be your first point of contact whether on the phone or in person. She handles the administrative tasks for the firm. She joined Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson in July of 2016. She very much enjoys working for a firm that is respectful and compassionate to the needs of their clients, and is proud of her role here at AKMJ.

Karlene is a native of Colorado, and loves everything the state as to offer: being outdoors, hiking, mountain drives, fishing and of course watching the Broncos games on Sundays. She is a proud mom to Zachary, Brittany, and Brianna.

Dawn Receptionist

Dawn

Drafting Paralegal

Dawn is our Senior Drafting Paralegal. Her responsibilities include the drafting of wills and trust documents for our clients.

Dawn has more than six years in the legal field, previously working as a Civil Litigation Paralegal. She also enjoyed working in radio the last 10 years. She is a proud Colorado native and is lucky to have family nearby. She spends as much time as she can with her Cocker Spaniel, Larry.

Alexia

Drafting Assistant

Alexia joined our firm in January of 2023 as a Drafting Assistant. She received her B.A. in Corporate Communications from the University of Texas at Austin and her M.A. from the University of Denver Josef Korbel School of International Studies.

Alexia is a member of NALA – The Paralegal Association and has more than 5 years of experience in the legal field supporting small business and start-up clients.  Her experience as a notary compliments her drafting assistant responsibilities in Estate Planning.

Alexia is a major foodie and bookworm who also loves coffee, yoga, and indoor cycling. She has lived in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Alabama, Texas, and is proud to call Denver, Colorado her home!

Lori

Lori

Probate Paralegal

Lori joined Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson in 2017 and is a certified paralegal, bringing a wealth of legal experience to the firm, including estate planning and trust administration, with over 27 years in the legal field. She supports a proud military family and is happy to be back in Colorado with her family, cheering for the Denver Broncos, crafting, hiking and camping.

Katie

Katie

Legal Assistant

Katie is the Estate Planning Paralegal for Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson. She joined the firm in August 2013. Katie handles most deed work, drafting summaries, and billing. She also assists with bookkeeping.

Prior to joining the firm, Katie spent a year volunteering with Colorado Legal Services and Metro Volunteer Lawyers as an office assistant and paralegal intern. Currently, she completed her paralegal certificate at Arapahoe Community College in December of 2013. Her previous educational background includes a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University.

Her background in family and individual development is well-suited for work in Estate Planning and Administration. As an international adoptee, supporting the legal aspects of adoption is close to Katie’s heart. In her free time, Katie enjoys going for scenic walks and creative writing, and has a second full-time job looking after her husband, stepson, and their newest edition to the family, Matthew, who was born in 2016. She is eternally grateful for coffee.

 

Katrena

Client Relations/Marketing Coordinator

Katrena joined our firm in January of 2022 as our Client Relations/Marketing Coordinator.  She is originally from Massachusetts and moved to Colorado after graduating from Boston University. She has two cats named Zeus and Precious, who she loves to play with in her free time. Katrena is your first point of contact for all classes and seminars, so be sure to say hi at our next webinar!

Gus

“Pet Trust Consultant”

Gus is AKMJ’s “pet consultant”! He loves playing with his favorite toys, taking long naps, and lying in the sun. His other skills include looking very cute!
