Elizabeth D. Mitchell

Attorney

Beth Mitchell is a partner in the law firm of Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson. Beth devotes her practice to estate planning, elder law, special needs planning, and probate and trust administration.  She is board certified as a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA)* through the National Elder Law Foundation, and she is a Veterans Administration accredited attorney.  She is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Denver Bar Association, and the Colorado Bar Association, where she is a member of the Elder Law Section.

Beth sincerely enjoys working with families to make sure that estate matters are handled correctly and efficiently, as well as helping Seniors and the disabled handle issues that arise from incapacity.  She is a frequent speaker for professionals and the public on educational topics involving estate planning, probate, and elder law.

Beth received her B.A. in English and Speech Communications from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was awarded her J.D. from the University of Denver College of Law, where she was an editor for the Preventive Law Reporter and an active member of the University of Denver Student Law Office’s Battered Women’s Clemency Project.

Beth is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the 10th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson, Beth’s diverse background included working for the Colorado Bar Association, with the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence as an AmeriCorps member, and interning with South Dakota Senator Tim Johnson on Capitol Hill. She is a South Dakota native who loves to travel and has enjoyed living in Iowa, New York, Washington D.C., and Colorado.

Erica L. Johnson

Attorney

Erica Johnson is a Partner in the law firm of Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson. She is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the State of Colorado and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

Erica received her B.S. in Broadcasting Management from Northern Arizona University in 1989. She was awarded her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver College of Law, where she received the Outstanding Student Leadership Award.

Erica’s practice emphasizes estate planning, probate, trust administration, second and step-parent adoption. She is a member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. Her other professional associations include membership in the Denver Bar Association, Trusts and Estates section of the Colorado Bar Association, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, and Women’s Estate Planning Council. She is a frequent speaker on the topic of estate planning for non-traditional families.

Before beginning her law career, Erica was the Vice President of Marketing and Operations for a regional jewelry store chain in Colorado and Wyoming. Prior to joining Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson Erica practiced estate planning and family law. She is a Colorado native, born and raised in Littleton, Colorado.

Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson is dedicated to providing cost effective service to their clients as they accumulate, preserve, and transfer wealth. Erica believes that an estate plan will be most effective when it is crafted by a team comprised of the client’s most trusted advisors.

Christopher W. Scolari

Attorney

Christopher (Chris) Scolari joined the Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson team as an Associate in October 2019. Chris’ work with Ambler Keenan focuses on estate planning and probate matters throughout Colorado. Chris is licensed to practice law by the Colorado Supreme Court and is an active member of the Denver Bar Association and Colorado Bar Association.

Prior to joining the Ambler Keenan team Chris worked in a variety of positions focusing on natural resource and environmental law and policy throughout the West, including in private legal practice, the private business sector, and in bipartisan federal policy. Chris has developed significant expertise in property law, including land and mineral ownership matters and related testate and family conveyance issues in Colorado.

Chris made the transition from natural resource law to estate planning because he sincerely enjoys working with families and values the peace of mind that a proactive estate plan provides. Chris believes that a smart, comprehensive estate plan is vital to protecting family and property, and central to preventing family strife. As a Colorado native, Chris is proud to serve his fellow Denver Metro area community members.

Chris earned his B.A. from the University of Kansas in Lawrence and is a 2010 graduate of Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver. During his time at Sturm, Chris served as President of the DU Moot Court Board, was a member of the school’s Elder Law Society and Wills Lab, and interned with the Denver Probate Court.

Karlene

Administrative Assistant

Karlene is our Administrative Assistant. She will be your first point of contact whether on the phone or in person. She handles the administrative tasks for the firm. She joined Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson in July of 2016. She very much enjoys working for a firm that is respectful and compassionate to the needs of their clients, and is proud of her role here at AKMJ.

Karlene is a native of Colorado, and loves everything the state as to offer: being outdoors, hiking, mountain drives, fishing and of course watching the Broncos games on Sundays. She is a proud mom to Zachary, Brittany, Brianna and her fur baby Roxy.

Drafting Paralegal

Dawn is our Drafting Paralegal. Her responsibilities include the drafting of wills and trust documents for our clients.

Dawn has more than six years in the legal field, previously working as a Civil Litigation Paralegal. She also enjoyed working in radio the last 10 years. She is a proud Colorado native and is lucky to have family nearby. She spends as much time as she can with her Cocker Spaniel, Larry.

Lori

Probate Paralegal

Lori joined Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson in 2017 and is a certified paralegal, bringing a wealth of legal experience to the firm, including estate planning and trust administration, with over 27 years in the legal field. She supports a proud military family and is happy to be back in Colorado with her family, cheering for the Denver Broncos, crafting, hiking and camping.

Alexis

Alexis

Trust Administration Paralegal/Office Manager

Alexis is our Office Manager, Trust Administration, Corporate, and Probate Paralegal. She is also a jack of all trades at Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson.  She joined our firm in December of 2014 and started out as our Receptionist.  Now she not only handles Trust Administration, but everything from corporate work to assisting callers with scheduling.

Alexis grew up in Denver.  In her spare time, she loves enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather with her two labs, Bella and Lily, and miniature dachshund, Gingerbread.   Also, she never misses a Broncos game on football Sundays.

Katie

Katie

Legal Assistant

Katie is the Estate Planning Paralegal for Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson. She joined the firm in August 2013. Katie handles most deed work, drafting summaries, and billing. She also assists with bookkeeping.

Prior to joining the firm, Katie spent a year volunteering with Colorado Legal Services and Metro Volunteer Lawyers as an office assistant and paralegal intern. Currently, she completed her paralegal certificate at Arapahoe Community College in December of 2013. Her previous educational background includes a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University.

Her background in family and individual development is well-suited for work in Estate Planning and Administration. As an international adoptee, supporting the legal aspects of adoption is close to Katie’s heart. In her free time, Katie enjoys going for scenic walks and creative writing, and has a second full-time job looking after her husband, stepson, and their newest edition to the family, Matthew, who was born in 2016. She is eternally grateful for coffee.

Client Relations/Marketing Coordinator

Emily is our Client Relations/Marketing Coordinator and is your point of contact for all firm events, seminars, and continuing education courses held by the firm. She joined Ambler Keenan Mitchell Johnson in 2020 and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art. Emily enjoys spending her free time as many Colorado natives do- in the great outdoors with her family and friends. She loves local coffee shops, cooking for her family, and catching an Avalanche game. Be sure to say hello at our seminars!

Here at AKMJ, Jasmine, also known as “Jazz”, is everyone’s best friend. Her favorite days are in the office making her rounds to love on each of us. Outside of work, she loves taking long walks, meeting new doggie and human friends. Thanks for being such a good girl!
